The World Will Never Be the Same...

Last weekend, my hubby took a group of 14 kids and 4 adults on a mission trip called World Changers. They went to Missouri for five days. Kayla was among the group. She had a blast! It makes my heart glad when my kids get excited about helping others. Here are just a few pictures to document her trip. I told her she MUST take pictures since I wasn't going. She made me proud and came back with a memory card full. Here are a few favorites...

She is ready to go...

A goodbye hug for mom. I LOVE this girl!!!

The world was changed a little this trip. A young girl was changed this trip. Oh, the memories she made. :)

Our CRAZY group.

PRICELESS. Getting ready to work.

Hard at work.

YIKES!!! What they found at the house they worked at.

One of their projects... Before

Goofing off with Dad at a late night Sonic break.

My baby doll. She has a big heart and it showed this week. We are so proud of her.

A "ME" Day...

I didn't go to work today. I took the day off. I needed some "ME" time. I would like to say I was laying by the pool, reading a good book, but who am I trying to kid? Pale skin princess that I am, doesn't sit out in the heat willingly...gals like me don't do "lobster red." Truthfully, I would like to say I was sitting in my big comfy chair, in the air conditioning, reading a GREAT book...but that didn't happen either.

It was a "ME" day. I did take off work. However, I ended up here...

No, it wasn't the relaxing massage a girl dreams about, although I was pushed and smashed on. No, it was my yearly visit with the mammogram machine. FUN. The only highlight of the hour was that the technician is another mom of one of Jordan's classmates and I was distracted by "son" talk. Other than that... UGH!!!

I will probably be called back too, for an ultrasound. Cysts. Yep, that is me, the cyst princess. I inherited my cyst kingdom from my mom the cyst queen. No fun at all...

Of course there is always the fear that it is something more. So many family and friends have all heard the dreaded "C" word lately, so any dream world I was living in, has had a BIG reality check in the last few years. It is hard not to worry and think of the "what ifs?" God knew I needed a little word from Him, so He sent me this in my reading this morning:

"He will have no fear of bad news; his heart is steadfast, trusting in the Lord. His heart is secure, he will have no fear..." Psalm 112:7-8

It doesn't mean bad things will not come my way, I just don't need to worry, for HE will see me through. Isn't God AWESOME like that?!

This afternoon I continued my "ME" day and got the hair done with the baby girl. Three and a half hours later, we come out looking a little brighter and less shaggy. Here are the before and after pictures, which are not the best, but it is what I have, so you will just have to take my word for it. "No makeup" faces may have looked a little on the tired side, getting beautiful is hard work, but at least our hair has a new look. (Sorry, but I wasn't going to put on makeup just for this picture.)

Before...

after.

Before...

Now, I am thinking to end my day, that I will grab a book and read a little, be lazy and go to bed early.

A total "ME" day...

Jordan's World...

My hubby was looking at his pictures on his phone the other night. I realized he had some really good ones of my favorite young man (I started to say "little boy," but that is funny since he is taller than me...). I told him to send me a few. So I am playing "Jordan catch up" right now.

Jordan was inducted into Beta Club this year. We are proud of him. He ended up having a great school year. He even received an award in science. I wasn't able to go to the induction, so his dad and grandma went.

The "Big One" that didn't get away. (20lbs)

This boy takes after his dad and LOVES to fish.

This was taken last winter, but I thought it was cute. My hunter.

A friend took this at the school dance the other night.

That kid is my social butterfly. He loves to go and do.

I got the "football" letter in the mail for 7Th grade football, today. I can't believe he is finally old enough to play school ball. Bless my mama heart. I don't know if I am ready for all of this.

My baby boy is growing up and I am not sure I like it one bit! Yesterday, he knew I had a rough day. When I came home from a meeting at work, he had cleaned my kitchen and picked up the living room. Makes my heart smile... of course the fact that he is trying to earn money for the latest electronic gadget is beside the point, right? :) Gotta love him.

His dad and sister are getting ready for a mission trip soon. It will be me and him for a week. Hmm...

The Hills Are Alive...

Kayla and I went Friday night to see a local production of "The Sound of Music." It was put on by the local Methodist Church and we both had friends in it. Dad was out of town, Jordan went to the Middle School dance with friends, so Kay and I had a "girl's night."

IT WAS WONDERFUL!

Everyone did a fantastic job. The food was great and it was fun watching and singing (in my head, of course) all the songs. We had a very nice evening.

Of course I had to show you the YUMMY food we ate.

"going on sixteen..."

Mother/daughter night...FUN!

They really did do a wonderful job.

For those of you who read my last post and are praying for my hubby... THANKS!!!

He is doing a little better, but his head is still spinning like crazy. This may be God's way of letting him rest, but it is frustrating him because he has so much work to catch up on. Hopefully tomorrow will be better. Thanks again for the continued prayers.

Hubby's Home!!!

Kevin has been gone all week "Cruisin'" the high seas. He and another adult chaperoned seven graduating seniors from our church on a cruise. They left from New Orleans and stopped at Cozumel and Progresso, Mexico. They had a really good time. Here are a few snapshots of their trip...

Beautiful...

They went to the Mayan ruins and had fun climbing around.

The kids dared Kev to sing during karaoke night. He got up and sang "You Raise Me Up," in front of about 400 people. He said probably half of them were drunk, but he did get a standing ovation when he finished.

They had fun on the beach. They went snorkeling, but I will have to get his film developed before showing any pictures of that part of the trip.

They ate well...

I am thankful he had a good time with his kids before they start a new chapter in their lives. It is always sad to see them go, but yet exciting to see what great plans God has for each one of them.

He brought back souvenirs, which is always a big treat. But mostly we are just glad he is back home.

On a side note, please pray for Kev. He had an excellent time, no problems. He felt good the whole trip. However, since he has been home he has had vertigo. I told him maybe he was suppose to live on a boat. :) His week is going to be busy planning for an upcoming mission trip. please pray for healing and strength.

Have a beautiful weekend!
