An Update to Post "Deer Me!"

I stand corrected...today my son shot his second deer. He killed a button buck last year.

Actually, he went back out this afternoon and shot a nine point. He is one happy little hunter. he sat around in the recliner tonight holding his rack in disbelief. His daddy is super proud too!

As for me?

He came in and said, " Dad told me that since you aren't a hunter, that you have a hard time getting excited about my deer." Hmmm...

I responded with "Baby, I am excited that you are excited. Seeing you happy makes this Mommy's heart smile." He left the room happy.

Here's an updated picture... my little deer hunter with his trophies.

Sis,
I'd say that there is a great picture of a "good head" between the horns!

Jor, did I tell you that I "shot" three deer this week? Two does and a 6-point buck. Of course, I'll have to depend on you for the meat from yours, and I let the buck keep his horns. Yessir, I saw them about 30 foot from where I was standing, took out my 5.1 Mega Pixel Sony, "shot" the two does with one press of my trigger-finger, and then the next day, "shot" the buck in the very same place, about 6 foot from our deck. They didn't even know what "hit" them! In fact, they are still walking around, not realizing that they've been "shot" already. But I've got pictures to prove I really did "shoot" them. Lined my telescopic sight up on them, and the rest is history, as they say.

Of course, I'm mighty proud of you getting your two deer. Wow, an 8 and a 9 pointer.

Later,
Jim-Dad

I feel exactly the same way. That's great for him! I guess. ;)

Truly, though...anything which gets them bonding and learning respect for nature and guns can't be too bad.

I had venison once when I was a kid, and as I recall, I liked it. The funny thing is at the time, I had no idea what kind of meat it was. My brother was afraid to tell me!

I can eat chicken and hamburger, but I couldn't "do the deed" so to speak. I gotta be able to buy it in the store already packaged!

Awwwwwwwwwwwwww, how great for him!!! And yea, I don't get excited over everything that excites my kids, but I do love that they're excited! We moms make great CHEERLEADERS, don't we?

Aw, he looks so happy! I bet he loves all the guy time just as much as the hunt!

OK, so sitting in the sidelines cheering from afar.....can't get Bambi image outta my mind, lol.

I am sure that is so awesome for your son to be bonding with his dad....going through these rites of passages with him. Moments and memories that he will cherish forever. Praise God!

My son E is fascinated with weaponry like my husband and I try to stay excited about that too...I am just not a gun person (it's the Jesus hippie treehugger in me, LOL)...but, like you...I am excited that he is excited and appreciate what makes him tick.

How cool is that? Congrats to your young man.

I guess hunting wouldn't be for me either, but I can understand the excitement and pride that goes with shooting a deer.
