We Had A White Christmas!!!

Here's the thing, people, I live in Arkansas. Which means the weather could do anything around these parts. One year, we might never see a drop of snow, the next few years we will have ice storms galore. And for some reason, for the past several years our biggest snow/ice has happened in February or March. So, was I planning on seeing a white Christmas?

No.

I knew the weatherman had said we might have a few flakes, but I've stopped listening to them long ago. I sometimes picture God having fun with our poor weather people. It is like He is saying "You just think you know what is going to happen..."
That being said, a little snow did come my way...

When we woke up, Christmas morning, the ground was all white and fluffy. It wasn't very deep, but it was just enough to create a beautiful white Christmas morning and let the kids enjoy a few snowballs.

Jordan with my three nephews.
Kayla with my nephew Tate.
Jordan. Tate making snow angels...
Kevin with my brother-in-law Kirk.
Kayla and our dog Baby girl.

The back door, when the snowball fight ended.

It was a beautiful, very cold, fun day!
Thanks for being patient as I continue to share my Christmas memories...

We haven't had our first real snow yet. We had a few flakes but nothing stuck.

We usually have fairly mild winters but last year was a doozy!

Hey...I know those people!!!

I'm so glad that we had the snow. At least the kids can say they saw some this year. But you're right...probably next week will come an ice storm and a huge blizzard.

Crazy Arkansas weather.

That's awesome! In '04, it started snowing here in Texas on Christmas Eve. We could not believe it! That was the first Christmas after my Mom died, and I thought it was so neat. It hadn't snowed in this part of TX since '89 before that! Since then, it's snowed the past 2 years here. That was a record! So much for global warming!!

That is about the amount of snow we got too. But the kids loved playing in it.

Kids in Seattle are nuts for snow, too. It's always wet and perfect for snowman-making. As a CO semi-native, I always scratched my head at their enthusiasm. But...we don't get much here. Funny, my kids are now more Seattle native than Denver native. :) And guess what? They are nuts for the snow, too.

OH wow.... in my entire life, I've never had a white Chritmas. We've had two snows in my entire life that were even worth playing in and I was sick with the flu for one of those two times.

Ahhh yes, gotta love Texas! But there was a girl out swimming in the river two Sundays ago when we took our family photos. Guess it has it's perks!

Mich,

We too were hopeful for a white Christmas but it never materialized. Last year we had almost 2 feet, and this year it stayed in the 65 degree range and sunny!

SO glad that you were all able to be out and about in it all!

That is great that you had a white Christmas. I bet the kids just loved it!! We got snow too but it was not until late Christmas day. We did not get to wake up to it!!

Sis,
Well, the big snow came last weekend and we've been socked-in ever since. No churches had services Sunday for miles around and today, though I'm going to try and brave the road, it's still on with more forecasted for today and tomorrow. Such is life on the side of a mountain.

Love you,
Jim-Dad

I'm so jealous... a white Christmas! Love all the pictures and the wrap up on the season. What a treasure to be able to share our special occasions with family and friends, far and wide.
