And the Award Goes To...???

The other day I was nominated for an award. I was just a little on the excited side. You see, I started this blog, at my sisters urging. "Mich, it is a great way for us to keep up with each other." Soon my dad had a blog too. And she was right, everyday we can read what's going on in in each other's day. However, pretty soon we found ourselves finding other blogs that inspired us, made us laugh and simply just brought a smile to our hearts. It is nice to know that there are other mothers (and dads) out there that love Jesus and are trying their hardest to raise their family in a Godly manner, while living in a sinful world. It is encouraging to know you are not alone in the craziness of parenthood. That you are not the only one that has meltdowns, kids that throw tantrums and spouses that are too "tired to talk." Hence the computer diary, the typed voice, the bloggy friends. Just the other day I told my husband that the blog has really helped me. It has given me an outlet to express myself, when some of those expressions can not be said in my everyday world. It has allowed me a time to cry, laugh, vent, encourage and be encouraged. I feel like I have some new friends, who may not be around to go to a movie, but are there with prayer, encouragement and sweet comments. Thanks bloggy buddies!!!

As for the award I so graciously received? It was the "Honest Scrap Award." It came from Christy Rose of "The Secret Life of an American Wife and Mom." She writes some of the most inspiring posts, not to mention she has a big heart for the Lord. If you haven't already met her you might enjoy visiting. She is a great mom and has a beautiful family. Thanks friend, for the sweet nomination.

In order for me to accept this award, here are the rules:

1. Say thanks and give link to the presenter of this award.

2. Share "ten honest things" about myself.

3. Present this award to 7 others whose blogs have inspired me or brought encouragement.

4. Tell those 7 people that they have been awarded the "Honest Scrap" and inform them of the guidelines upon receiving it.

OK. "Ten HONEST things" about myself? I just finished three posts with "100 things about Mich." Does that count? I guess I will try to dig up 10 more...

1. I was born in Fort Worth, Texas while my dad was going to school. I'm a seminary brat!

2. I love children, and their honesty.

3. I am on the shy and quiet side, but can be a chatterbox among family and friends. I can also be a very protective "Mama Bear" at times.

4. I have a sister who is six and a half years younger than me. We are very close. Heart you, sis!

5. I have a new toy that I got for Christmas. My hubby got me a Canon Rebel. I love playing around with it and taking pictures.

6. I still have the first cell phone I ever got. "If it ain't broke, why replace it?" Actually, I would like a new one, but I am not "addicted" to my phone like some people. Everyone fusses at me because I never have it on me.

7. I can be a pack rat at times. I have such a hard time throwing things of sentimental value away...you know those precious drawings from school and Sunday School, I have hundreds.

8. I still have a great relationship with my kids. I am so thankful that they still feel like they can "talk" to me. I know this may change, but for now it brings me great joy.

9. My hubby is my best friend and encourager. I am thankful for him everyday.

10. I have said this once before, but every time I say it, it can mean even more. "I AM A WORK IN PROGRESS." I believe in a loving God, who puts His creative hand on me everyday, molding me into His own.

As for 7 people in the blog world who inspire me everyday?

1. My sister Amber over at Raising Rascals. She just plain loves me know matter what. Thank you Lord, for family.

2. Sharon at Joy in the Truth is one awesome lady. She inspires me daily with sweet comments and beautiful scripture based posts.

3. I also love reading how God is taking care of Lauren at Walking By Faith. She has a great story of how God teaches her everyday how to walk with Him.

4. This next bloggy friend makes me laugh, cry and gives me some pretty hefty questions to think about each week. Gretchen at Jewels in My Crown, thanks for making me smile!

5. Joy at the Joyeful Journey is a beautiful read. She shares her heart and has a beautiful gift with words.

6. I love reading Sarah Dawn's posts at Slashing Glory and hearing about her missionary adventures, her big heart and to simply get "splashed." She also shares my middle name. (Oops! I just gave away another fact about me!) I couldn't get it to link, so if you want to read her great posts go to "justsarahdawn.blogspot.com."

7. Finally, my dad. He doesn't blog all the time, but when he does, he lends spiritual insight into the ordinary. Most of all, I just put him on this list because he takes the time everyday to read mine and my sister's blogs and will leave encouraging comments full of love. In the blog world he is known as Jim-Dad. His blog is called the Barnabas Brief. Hmmm...fitting, don't you think? Love ya, Dad!

Well, this has been fun. I could have done way more than a list of seven. Thanks for letting me have a "honest" moment and for sharing it with me. I guess now I have to go hunt down all my "honest" pals and hand out nominations.

Talk to you later!

Oh wow...thank you so much! I am sincerely touched...because I can tell you are sincere! Thank you!

I want to do right by you and Christy Rose, so I will be working on the award post and will post it when it is ready.

We are heading out for vacation, so computer time will be mostly non-existent for a week! While I will miss it, I admit it is a good thing. Sometimes, I take a cyber fast!

Thanks Mich-Dawn! (new fact!) I pray HE blesses you for your sweet heart and kindess!

Someday, we shall meet. :)

You are so deserving of your bloggy award! Way to go, Sis-a-row. Remember when Jim-Dad used to call us that?! Funny.

Thanks for passing on the bloggy goodness my way.

You are the bestest. Can't imagine life withoutcha.

(Okay...the word verification is "unbeg". Isn't that a weird word? UNBEG. Huh.)

Wow, I'm so blessed!!!! Thank you so much for thinking of me, Mich! It's been so much fun to get to know you! I feel like we have a lot in common (I am not addicted to my phone and I can be shy sometimes, and my hubby and I used to be youth pastors and we loved it--we really want to do that again, just waiting on God)

I agree that blogging has brought so many new and wonderful friends into my life!

So blessed to know you!

Love,
Joye

Congrats on your award. It's amazing how you can make some good bloggy friends, isn't it? You can pop on and be encouraged or encourage others, laugh, cry, and pray for the needs of others.

That's cool your sis and dad blogs. I have three friends who blog but noone in my family does. I can't even get them to join facebook, so I think blogging is out, lol!

congrats on your awards...wow, your dad blogs? that is amazing. I am somewhat of a pack rat too. That is awesome that you still have your first cell phone. I only upgrade to the free ones when it is time, so mine is still bottom of the line...but it calls.

Sis,
Hey, thanks for the encouragement you give me, too! I treasure your blogs and look forward to the insight that God gives you each day in the midst of your experiences. For your "blogeeps" let me say that I believe this means of communications keeps us more in contact than many other methods, and the depth of what is shared is usually of more quality that even that you might get on the phone, which has a tendency to just cover routine this and that updates. When you write something for such readership, you become more reflective and share with perhaps more desire to leave something of yourself on the page. Anyway, I'm totally sold on both blogging and Facebook to keep up with my girls and their thoughts and experiences. Thanks to you and Amber for getting me hooked!

I have a difficult time, also, getting rid of some things, especially when it comes to my children’s little treasures…thing they made for me, or drew, or wrote. Can I really justify getting rid of those things? It breaks my heart when I do, and I feel sick at the stomach. But I cannot hang on to everything. That makes me feel sick, too. I guess the best I can do it to remember to SHOW them the love I have for them each day.

Thanks for sharing of yourself.

Mich, You are so welcome for the nomination. I was extremely happy to pass it along to you. But, I can not believe you did so well at posting 10 new things about yourself after you 100 things you just posted recently. You have had to think deep huh? well, i know I would have had too anyway. Great List!

I think it is funny that you still have your original cell phone. I always get bugged about not keeping my phone close too. But I do get the new free phone they offer every contract renewal. It is always cheesy but it works. That is definitely all that matters to me. :)
Have a great 4th weekend!
Christy
