I guess I'm not really busy after all...

Let's see, today is Tuesday, so that means piano lessons, soccer practice for one kid, games for another, homework, and a 7th grade football game. Throw in laundry, Homecoming week, as well as the regular work load, and my family has had a full day. Tomorrow add church youth group and AWANA to the mix. On Thursday, there will be more soccer and football games... Friday is Homecoming, etc..etc...etc...

But wait, isn't there a rumor that the powers that be want to add hours to the school day? I'm trying to imagine our family schedule running an hour or two behind normal...

This mom is wondering if those families that have kids in public schools are being punished for something?! After all, when is anyone suppose to have any FAMILY time? Or is that not important?

This mom is wondering when her child gets to PLAY and have FUN and be a KID, without living out a marathon?

This mom is wondering where the concept of eating as a family, at the table has gone? Conversation? Do we even know what that is anymore?

Does anyone else already have a hard time getting the kids in bed before 10:00p.m.?

Hmmm... I am going to have to give this some thought. As a mom who already has a hard time juggling, I'm not looking forward to the possibility of my family life becoming a circus of chaos. (More than it already is at times!!!) Yet, I don't even begin to pretend to know all the answers about what would benefit my children the most!

I guess this mom will do the only thing she can do... PRAY!!!

Amb, could you move to my town and do your big sis a favor and teach my kids too?! Mom?!!!

Hmmm.....your schedule sounds so much like mine! :) "Mommy Schedule"!

Awana tonight here too. Jim does it with Gabrielle. He does football with Joshua on Tues and Thurs.

So funny you did this post...I have a similar one brewing in my head! :)

Hugs,
Sharon

I hear ya. I was sure missing my kids around 2pm yesterday...the school day is already long enough. I could not & neither could my kids stand another hour away from home. Home schooling has seriously been crossing this moms mind. Prayer is the key...we are just as busy

Sis,
From my vantage point, I am busier than I thought I would be in retirement, er, semi-retirement, er, semi-employed, er, well, you get the drift. I'd like a little more experience with the grands - of course, we might get quickly overwhelmed with schedules and such. Being grandpa and ma has its benefits. We'd like a bit more hectic experience with K and J, though.

Our school extended it's day by 20 mins this year. There are just a lot of things that we don't get involved in simply because it just gets to be too much. When the kids first started school, I would try to sign up and have them in every single thing available and I learned really quickly that it wasn't fun for them or me to be gone and busy every hour of every day, so we choose 1 or 2 things for them to do and that's it. Because once Lily gets in school, just having them all in 1 activity will mean 3 nights out per week, plus bible study and church, etc.

What aggravates me is that they spend all day at school then come home with homework....can't they give them time to do that work at school? That's just my opinion on it!

You can commute....drive them to Rascal Academy everyday....

It really isn't that big of a deal, because before long, you'll be asked to drive your kids all the way to another county to go to school anyway....so what's a few more minutes?!??!?!

Hang in there. Our schedule is bananas, and we don't even have the running back and forth to school in the mix anymore.

UGH.

I hope they don't add hours to an already full day of school! I am totally against that!

Mich,

I think if it came to that on our end both of them would finish being homeschooled. There just isn't enough time already to add more hours to a childs school day in addition to all the homework they bring home daily because they can't get it done in class.

I read once that each child is taught only 7 minutes in each class of actual learning. The rest is spent getting people settled down, roll taken, homework turned in, before the poor teacher can actually teach. Then they have to cut it short so they can put stuff away, get their homework assignments, get ready to leave so they can be on time to the next class. Hang in there, I believe it is only going to get worse!

I remember those crazy days when our older kids were young. They kept us running in several directions. Somehow it kept life interesting. You'll miss these days when the kids are grown and gone, trust me on that.

This is just TOO upsetting for me to even begin to comment on it!

I almost did comment, but my comment would be too negative, so I will just pray instead.

This made me tired just reading it! I know life is going to get busier as the kids get older and I AM NOT READY for that:)

Thats so true about how our lives can get so busy and our families have such full plates that we forget to take the time on what matters. I heard once before to limit activities with children (maybe let them only choose one) so they can learn to have quality time with the family and have time to themselves too. Busy-ness only makes time fly by faster, and our kids are already growing up so fast!!
