Dear Self,
I know that it is New Year's Eve, a time when everyone loves to sit down and make that wonderful list of New Year's resolutions. I know that there is that pressure to at least "say" that you are going to change some things in your life, be a better person, reach your ideal weight, read the Bible in a year, be the next June Cleaver and yada, yada, yada...
But here is the thing...
Me, myself and I, KNOW that in the past, that every resolution made has sadly been broken within a few months, sometimes a couple of weeks and on occasion a few days. So what is the use? Why get myself down at the beginning of a whole new year? Why start out as a failure?
Nope. Not going to do it to myself this year. After all, I will be the BIG "40" this coming year. Isn't that life changing enough?!
No, this year I am just going to make some little "promises" to myself. Promises, that I pray everyday, anyway. I want to be a better wife, a better mom and better friend. I want to be an encourager, a peacemaker, and a model of the fruit of the Spirit. I want to be a student of the Holy Word, a giver of love and grace and a truly thankful child of the Heavenly Father.
And if that means in the process...
I get my house super duper organized, I lose about 30 extra pounds and tone another 10, and work on some of my many weaknesses in the end, then it is all good.

Most of all, I just need to remember that I was created for a purpose, that I am loved unconditionally and I am totally saved by grace. Life is good.
Here is to a GREAT year,
